Event Details

PAWAC's Golden Anniversary: For fifty years, the Peoria Area World Affairs Council has invited the people of Central Illinois to learn about the world's most challenging issues with key foreign policy experts, including diplomats, elected officials, and academics. PAWAC is launching an ambassador series in 2020 to explore how world events are affecting us locally.

Ambassador Thomas Pickering is one of the most distinguished foreign service officers in the history of the U.S. Department of State. He has served as U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation, the United Nations, India, Israel, Jordan and El Salvador. After retiring from the State Department, he now serves as Vice Chairman of Hills and Company, an international consulting firm.

This spring gala event will feature a VIP reception and dinner. Ambassador Pickering will speak at 7 pm, followed by discussion with the audience. Sponsorship is available to allow for optimal student attendance.
