Pressure Printing on the Vandercook Press
Instructor: Peggy West
Department: Printmaking
This unique approach to letterpress printing uses collaged plates to achieve gradient tones on paper when printing. The results are unique prints and backgrounds for book pages, broadsides, or decorative papers. In this workshop, participants will create a pressure plate from cut paper, string, glue, and other materials. We will then use the plates to pressure print onto paper using the Vandercook cylinder press. There will be plenty of room to experiment to achieve unique results. No prior experience necessary.
