A Sharp Effect Salon

Adrienne Jones, better known as “AJ” got her start in the beauty arts industry while growing up in Philadelphia Pa. As a true Philly girl she was a product of her environment. Philly is an iconic mecca for hair and fashion, attracting beauty professionals from all over the world. In Philly you are sure to see a salon on every corner, destined to make her love for the beauty industry emerge.

With a passion for wanting to help people, AJ also was inspired to be a part of the Philadelphia school system, helping to provide at risk youth with the educational support they needed. Before then, AJ developed her skill and love for hair styling while attending Lincoln University in Pa., ending with two new things, one... a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and two.. A deep new found love for giving her beauty clients what would later be known as the A Sharp Effect...(which is when you can TRANSFORM a client with any hair type giving them Fabulous, head turning results,or as it’s known.. the A Sharp Effect)..Years later, she would meet her future husband Brian “Tightest” Yarbrough (International recording artist) introduced to her by L.A. Virgil (beloved music producer and author.) AJ and Brian were scheduled to record a few tracks together in a Philly studio, where their first joint project was recorded for release. Almost 2 years later, they were married and off to Illinois to begin a new and exciting journey!

AJ, however was at a crossroads with which direction to go, but ultimately chose to pursue her dream of becoming a salon owner. She paid her dues and delivered the latest and creative looks for clients of all ages! Word quickly got around about the new girl in town and before she knew it people wanted and mimicked her styles and techniques. Her work was featured in commercials, news broadcasts and beauty magazines.

During this time period she was also heavily involved in her community and a talented soloist on her church choir. She worked hard building up a clientele and very soon became an established stylist, prompting her to finally bring her brand “A Sharp Effect” to life! With the support of her husband, children, family and friends she finally had achieved her dream of becoming a salon owner, opening the very first A Sharp Effect Salon. The salon has become a Peoria staple and is considered one of the hottest salons in the city of Peoria, IL.

As if raising a family of 4 boys, active in the community, running a sought after and successful salon and launching her own exclusive merchandise wasn’t enough, she was also the creator and driving force of a new Hair and Fashion Showcase experience for the city of Peoria, which was a huge success! With 17 years in the business, AJ is a Master Stylist, mother of 4, community icon, proud business owner and a woman on a mission!

The A Sharp Effect Brand has helped to make a huge impact in the community by empowering future Cosmetologists in training, providing haircuts and beauty tips to local Women’s Ministry’s and not to mention a huge supporter and donator to various outreach projects and organizations. AJ has always had a passion for helping others achieve their dreams and empowering them in the development of their business, brands and events! A true believer of “What goes around, comes around!” So what’s next for this beautiful and talented Entrepreneur? While in the process of developing her custom line of hair products, she shows no signs of stopping when it comes to new ideas for the future of the A Sharp Effect brand!
